ServiceMaster Clean® of Ottawa offers you environmentally conscious, green cleaning options. Green cleaning is associated with more than environmental protection—it’s linked to overall better health and reduced sick days as well.*

We have developed unique, safe, and effective contaminant-free cleaning methods and materials specifically for green cleaning. And we still deliver the highest level of clean, even with the extra care. Breathe easier with both better air quality and less impact on the environment,* thanks to products that are independently tested, audited, and certified green.

What is green cleaning?

Green cleaning is comprised of facility cleaning products and methods developed to improve occupational health and performance while minimizing impact on the environment. Not all green cleaning products are independently audited and certified green. However, ServiceMaster Clean is the only national cleaning company whose products are certified by two different leading auditors: Environmental Choice, and Green Seal.

ServiceMaster Clean detergent-free cleaning uses only ingredients listed by the FDA as safe for consumption and products that are free of surfactants or wetting agents. Ideal for individuals with asthma, chemical and allergic sensitivities, our green cleaning products contain no VOCs (volatile organic compounds) or ingredients that are considered corrosive, alkaline or acidic. ServiceMaster Clean of Ottawa green cleaning is a highly efficient and effective cleaning system that is built around these advanced, innovative products.

The ServiceMaster Clean Of Ottawa Environmental Stewardship Principles

Our environmental policy is based on the belief that no one operates in isolation. Everyone shares the same earth, and everything we do matters to those around us. At ServiceMaster Clean of Ottawa, we put people first. The health, safety, and welfare of our customers, employees, and the people of the communities we serve are paramount. That is why we take our commitment to environmental stewardship seriously and have developed specific principles to guide us in serving our customers.

At ServiceMaster Clean of Ottawa, we pledge to:

Consider health, safety, and environmental issues in our actions. We are committed to providing safe, effective, quality services through the use of proven methods and tested products. We will strive to be a leader in understanding the health, safety, and environmental effects of the products and methods we use—staying abreast of scientific research and trends in new product development.

Use and apply all products safely. Because we are in the business of helping people keep their hospitals, homes, workplaces, and surroundings vital and healthy, we seek to reduce the harmful effects of pests and disease on the environments we service. While many of the products we use are available to consumers, our services are designed to provide maximum benefit with minimal environmental impact through careful, selective, professional application. We believe the key to providing a safe, high-quality service is employee training. Thus, the training and evaluation of our employees is ongoing.

Communicate openly and honestly. We strive to foster an open, honest dialogue with our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate. We are responsive to questions and concerns, and work to improve public understanding about the benefits of the services we provide and the materials we use.

Ensure the safety and well-being of our employees. We provide our employees with the tools, training, and support they need to do their jobs safely, effectively, and efficiently. We maintain a work environment where risks are understood and minimized and where adherence to safe work practices is expected and commended.

Minimize waste through reuse and recycling. We are committed to reuse and recycling as the best methods for minimizing waste (and will help our customers employ these practices also). When these methods are not practical, we take responsibility for assuring the safe disposal of wastes generated by our services or your emergencies.

Strive for “compliance plus.” We comply with all applicable federal, provincial, regional, municipal, and local regulations. Moreover, we seek to exceed these standards in a continuing effort to preserve and enhance our environment.

Include resource conservation in our daily operations. We recognize the limited nature of our natural resources. We use energy efficiently and responsibly and practice prudence in our consumption of both renewable and non-renewable resources. We strive to use sustainable energy sources whenever practical. We are committed to developing methods that promote the conservation of natural resources and improve the quality of our service.

Monitor our progress. Our Board of Directors audits the effectiveness of, and our compliance with, the ServiceMaster Clean of Canada environmental stewardship principles.

Participate in public policy. We encourage sound public policy by taking a leadership role in environmental, health, and safety issues. We work with government, special interest, and industry groups to help create responsible laws, regulations, and standards for safeguarding the workplace, the community, and the environment.

Put commitment behind our words. We commit human and financial resources to carrying out policies, procedures, and programs that enable us to meet our environmental stewardship responsibilities.

At ServiceMaster Clean of Ottawa, our most important commitment is to continuous improvement. We always strive to do better by our customers, our employees, and our environment, because it matters to all of us.
